Vij5 at OBJECT Rotterdam 2020

From 7-9 February Vij5 participated in one of the most beautiful (at least, we think) design events of the Netherlands: OBJECT Rotterdam! A must-see for collectors, professionals and other enthusiasts of design, interior, fashion, art and architecture. Vij5 was present at the first floor of the characteristic HAKA building: an amazing fully stripped architectural monument dating back to the thirties. Again, the building turned out to be the perfect backdrop for the Vij5 collection.

During OBJECT we emphasized some products, including the TwoTowel in the new colors mustard yellow, mint green and neutral, by putting them in the spotlight. Of all the products we showed, the TwoTowel was by far the most popular among the visitors of OBJECT. “Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before?!” is probably the most given comment 😉

In addition to the TwoTowel, two other products were in the spotlight:

A new version of the Align lamp:
This lamp has been part of the Vij5 collection since 2017, but it did not fully meet our wishes yet. That is why we have further developed the lamp and OBJECT was the perfect timing for a re-introduction. Align is a minimalist lamp whose design is based on a simple metal hemisphere. The lamp is designed by the talented German designer Antje Pesel and can be used in different ways, because the electrical and suspension cable are separated.

A new white version of the Tap Water Carafe:
By popular demand we started producing the Tap Water Carafe, designed by Lotte de Raadt, in a white / neutral version. Earlier, we made this special edition of the carafe for the famous restaurant Blue Hill Farm in New York. Thanks to them as early adopters, the white carafe is now also part of the Vij5 collection.

About the HAKA building:

The HAKA building is located on the edge of the Vierhaven area, which has quickly become the Mecca for creativity in Rotterdam. The striking building was designed in the 1930s by the Dutch architects Mertens and Koeman on behalf of the Coöperatieve Groothandelsvereniging De Handelskamer. Dudok Groep will soon develop the HAKA building into a vibrant business complex, complete with catering facilities and a rooftop bar. Visitors to OBJECT were able to take a last look in this special Rotterdam national monument before the transformation.
