Studio Thier&vanDaalen is formed by Iris van Daalen (’85) and Ruben Thier (’87). They both graduated at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2010 and started their studio in the summer of 2011 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
Ruben and Iris share a fascination for light, reflection, geometric and organic shapes, together with the transience of nature. They see it as a challenge to get hold of these phenomena and to abstract and translate them into new designs for lighting, furniture, accessories and unique objects.
Through extensive research and experiment with different materials, hands-on new projects and designs arise. Through the combination of various techniques the studio discovers and makes use of the full potential wherein innovation and elegance come together.
Ruben and Iris’ fascination and urge to discover can be traced back into their motto; “Don’t take the world for granted.” By consciously dealing with their sources, surroundings and impact, they want to realize designs to cherish and which will last long.
