A temporary intervention focusing on sustainability and circularity.

Commissioned by Dutch Design Foundation & Renault, Vij5 was responsible for the design of the new Business Lounge of Dutch Design Week (DDW) 2018. The Business Lounge was a temporary meeting place during DDW with workspaces, WI-FI and a wardrobe for the visitor with a DDW Pro ticket. Also, some private lunches and gatherings took place in the back room of the Business Lounge.

For the occasion, we designed a temporary intervention in line with our design for the Press Centre. Taking the private identity of both area’s in mind, we aimed to create two locations with both a temporary character and a high-end feel, focusing on sustainability and circularity.

In the Press Centre, we created an architectural intervention into the existing space with a big circle of 100% recycled and recyclable panels. In the Business Lounge half of this circle was repeated creating a welcoming gesture and identity for the space, while connecting the different rooms.

This structure was complemented with the temporary use of different items of the Vij5 collection, made from pure and sustainable materials. All design items were borrowed and returned afterwards.

Commissioned by Vij5, Floris Hovers designed a new barstool for the Business Lounge that will be introduced in the Vij5 collection later on.
