An obvious association with newspapers is the printing technique itself. It is a prerequisite for the existence of high-circulation newspapers. In a visual and suggestive style, Floris has reduced the atmosphere of printing presses and letter trays to a small cabinet. The cabinet can be opened in an unconventional way by a simple movement.
The top of the cabinet is an experiment in NewspaperWood with 3mm veneer on black MDF. With the roller the lid of the cabinet is slowly opened. On request the veneer principle can be applied on other objects or furniture.
NewspaperWood is a new material invented by Mieke Meijer, developed together with the Dutch designlabel Vij5 and now part of a new NewspaperWood company.
